Central Laboratory, 1617 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO This position is in the Geotechnical section of the Construction and Materials Division. Why you'll love this position: The engineering field intern (Geotechnical Specialist) assists in planning and executing geotechnical investigations for structures. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision. Responsibilities - What you'll do What you'll do: Assist geotechnical specialists and drilling crews during geotechnical investigations for structures and roadways; gain exposure to developing and executing drilling plans for geotechnical investigations. Learn the process of logging borings, collecting and preparing soil samples for testing in our Central Laboratory; gain exposure to performing field soil and rock tests on samples gathered. Exposure to evaluating, organizing, and preparing field and laboratory test results for geotechnical reports, while gaining exposure to geotechnical software such as Plog, gINT, KeyLAB, Slide2, etc. Perform Atterberg limits, compaction standards, direct shear tests, consolidation tests and unconfined compressive strength testing. Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned. Qualifications - All you need for success All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program full-time (12+ credit hours). 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply. Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.

Special Working Conditions:

This position will work Monday - Thursday and have weekly overnight travel, except for 3 weeks for initial safety training and laboratory experience. Hotels, per-diem and a vehicle will be provided for all travel. Job requires heavy physical exertion and effort. This position will work primarily outside and will require exposure to all outdoor elements.
