Job Description

Job description Rocksmith Geoengineering, LLC is seeking a Summer 2027 Intern in a Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering and/or Geology program to add to our St. Louis, Missouri team. This position is expected to last from June - August 2027. Rocksmith is an employee-owned company based in the St. Louis, Missouri area that provides excellent service to our clients and a great work environment for Engineers, Geologists and Scientists. Rocksmith provides technical services in support of geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, environmental and mining projects throughout the United States. Our St. Louis, Missouri-based team currently has a position open for an Engineer or Geologist with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later, seeking a challenging career with a growth-oriented company. Successful candidates should have an interest in subsurface investigation, foundation engineering, earth support structures, dams, tunnels, underground mining, mine and slope stability, rock mechanics, physical hydrogeology, landfill design and closures, and remediation. Position requires good verbal and written communication skills combined with leadership ability and willingness to travel to project sites as dictated by project demands. Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide support on a variety of engineering tasks with the goal of developing technical skills related to engineering practices.
  • Under general supervision, collect field data for various projects including rock core logging, downhole hydrogeological testing, soil logging and sampling, groundwater sampling, soil and rock testing, instrumentation, water balance, hydrology and hydraulic studies, environmental evaluation, and other field tasks based on project needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed site investigation and data summary reports, including preparing data and interpretive graphics such as tables, figures, charts, calculations and illustrations for the interpretation and presentation of data, findings or analyses.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and tasks. Be able to follow instructions and comply with company and client policies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on project assignments as needed.
  • Prepare a variety of standard logs and field forms (such as drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody forms). Qualifications
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or other related Undergraduate or Graduate program.
  • Valid United States Driver's License.
  • Authorization to legally work in the United States at the start of and throughout the internship period.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, SharePoint, etc.
  • Willingness to work on a wide variety of projects, performing a variety of tasks, and working schedules that are conducive to project specific requirements as needed.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to take ownership in work products, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness of work products.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to meet project objectives.
  • Safety conscience worker, who can meet the health, safety, security, and environmental policies and requirements of our company and clients.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER and/or MSHA Part 46/48 Surface and Underground Mine training are preferred.
Base Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
