Your Opportunity As our Geotechnical Engineer, you'll serve as both a technical expert and a leader within the company. You'll oversee geotechnical investigations and engineering analyses while partnering with company leadership to establish the systems, standards, and long-term vision for our Geotechnical Services Department. What You'll Do Technical Leadership Lead subsurface investigations including soil borings, test pits, and groundwater evaluations. Perform geotechnical analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, retaining structures, pavement evaluations, and foundation recommendations. Prepare high-quality engineering reports, recommendations, and technical documentation. Coordinate drilling subcontractors, field technicians, and testing activities. Collaborate closely with environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, and permitting specialists to deliver integrated solutions. Ensure projects meet quality, safety, budget, and schedule expectations. Department Growth & Leadership Help establish and grow ASE's Geotechnical Services Department. Develop standard operating procedures, QA/QC standards, and technical best practices. Assist with equipment planning, staffing strategies, and department growth initiatives. Mentor junior engineers and field staff. Support business development, proposal preparation, and client presentations. Build lasting relationships with clients by serving as a trusted technical advisor. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred). North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Seven or more years of geotechnical engineering experience. Demonstrated experience managing projects and serving as a primary client contact. Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical investigations. Excellent communication and technical writing skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping build and grow a successful service line. Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
