Where You Will Work Tyrone is an open-pit copper mining complex located in Grant County, New Mexico - just 10 miles south of the historic mining community of Silver City. The copper processing facilities currently consist of a solvent extraction/electrowinning operation with an annual maximum capacity of approximately 100 million pounds of copper. The community of Silver City boasts various restaurants, arts, entertainment, cliff dwellings, festivals and much more. Residents and visitors enjoy gentle four seasons, with three hundred days of sunshine a year and low humidity. This position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship. ## What You Will Do
- Assists in the planning and performing of mining engineering duties related to development and production at assigned site
- Assists in the development of mining plans to support short and/or long-range planning and production goals
- Participates in engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements.
- Monitors mining methods and equipment, with a view to improving performance
- Assists in developing and managing mine, mine ventilation, waste dumps and stockpile designs
- Assists in identifying courses of action to improve safety, operational efficiencies, control production costs and protect the environment.
- Perform other duties as required ## What You Bring To Freeport
- Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering with no experience required
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of mining engineering
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
