Where You Will Work Tyrone is an open-pit copper mining complex located in Grant County, New Mexico - just 10 miles south of the historic mining community of Silver City. The copper processing facilities currently consist of a solvent extraction/electrowinning operation with an annual maximum capacity of approximately 100 million pounds of copper. - Perform duties related to the operation of haul trucks to transport materials from loading areas to processing areas at a skilled level.
- Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards
- Responsible for performing inspections to maximize equipment and tire life and executes assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio
- May assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators
- May also operate other heavy equipment which may include, but is not limited to, water trucks, motor graders, and track and rubber tire dozers
- Responsible for knowing the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident
- Responsible for having knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake
- Responsible for the safe and skilled performance of the following tasks: spotting at shovel, loading, traveling, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at crusher
- Responsible for having operational knowledge of equipment components such as: engine, transmission, planetary final drives, main drive line, nose cone assembly, torque converter, differential, and wet disc braking system
- May perform and assist with operations support activities such as, housekeeping, barricading, cable moves, and ground support activities
- May perform minor maintenance activities
- Perform other duties as required ## What You Bring To Freeport
- Six (6) months of mobile equipment operating experience
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude.
- High School diploma or GED
- Six (6) or more months of experience operating Haul Trucks What We Offer You The estimated pay range for this role is currently $24.
