Job Description

Position Summary The Field Project & Safety Engineer plans, coordinates, and manages field operations for assigned projects, with a strong emphasis on safe execution of work. This position serves as a key point of coordination between field crews, company management, clients and subcontractors. The position helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract requirements, company standards, MSHA regulations, and applicable safety requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate field crews for assigned projects.
  • Plan and oversee daily field activities, including manpower, equipment, materials, scheduling, and safety requirements.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all field operations.
  • Conduct or participate in pre-job safety meetings, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and field safety inspections.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, work practices, or potential hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, correspondence, safety records, and field records.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other contract documents.
  • Assist with procurement and coordination of project materials, equipment, and services.
  • Obtain and maintain required project, site, and safety certifications.
  • Ensure field personnel comply with Company safety policies, client requirements, MSHA requirements, and other applicable regulations.
  • Participate in project meetings, safety meetings, and client coordination meetings.
  • Assist with incident, near-miss, and safety-related investigations and corrective actions as required.
  • Assist with preparation and review of change orders, additional work requests, and project documentation.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Current MSHA Part 48 training/certification, or ability to obtain certification as required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, clients, contractors, and Company management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to recognize workplace hazards and support safe work practices.
  • Previous experience in mining, underground construction, heavy civil construction, drilling, raise boring, or related industries.
  • Previous experience managing or coordinating field crews.
  • Familiarity with MSHA-regulated work environments.
  • Experience conducting or participating in job hazard analyses, safety inspections, toolbox talks, or incident investigations.
  • Experience with project scheduling, cost tracking, procurement, and field reporting.
  • Experience coordinating heavy equipment and specialized construction activities. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain and active construction or mining sites.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access equipment or work areas as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Work Environment This position requires work in both office and active field environments. Field work may include exposure to heavy equipment, construction activities, mining operations, dust, noise, uneven terrain, extreme temperatures, and other conditions commonly associated with industrial and construction sites. The employee is expected to actively support safe work practices and comply with all Company, client, MSHA, and site-specific safety requirements. Travel to project sites may be required, including overnight or extended travel depending on project location and duration.
Responsibilities include:
  • Obtain required safety training and certifications.
  • Follow and help enforce Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in pre-job planning, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Conduct routine observations of field activities and identify potential hazards.
  • Correct or report unsafe conditions and work practices.
  • Ensure employees have required PPE, training, and site-specific qualifications.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, and unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions when requested.
  • Coordinate with Company and client safety personnel as necessary.
  • Maintain required safety documentation and records.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when an immediate safety concern exists.
  • Promote accountability and a proactive safety culture among field personnel.
Pay:
From $100,000.00 per year
