HDR is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Resources Business Group in NY/NJ. They will typically work under and with Senior Geotechnical staff and be responsible for the geotechnical analysis and design or the interpretation and understanding of subsurface conditions of infrastructure projects including but not limited to roadways, retaining walls, bridges, buildings, dams, soils and rock slopes, etc. On a day-to-day basis, we'll also expect the Geotechnical Engineer to: Travel throughout New York and New Jersey for site visits, project meetings, investigation layout and observation. Set up field exploration programs and coordinate with subcontractors. Conduct field inspections of construction activities, including earthwork and foundation installations. Be capable of working independently or in a team environment assisting senior geotechnical staff. Perform assignments exercising judgement in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Preferred Qualifications MS in Civil Engineering BS in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related technical discipline required 5 years of geotechnical-related engineering experience Must have a knowledge of soil and rock mechanics. Must be willing to travel throughout the NY/NJ area Must have strong oral and written communication skills Local candidates are preferred #LI-JC7 Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation or other software as appropriate Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage and deep foundation response software, as appropriate Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog) An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
