Job Title:

Project EngineerJob Description The Project Engineer will serve as a Project/Field Engineer, bridging the gap between project documentation managed by project management and engineering teams and the physical execution led by superintendents and QA/QC personnel. This role focuses heavily on field support and coordination, ensuring that civil site development, infrastructure work, and ground-up construction activities are executed accurately, safely, and in alignment with project plans and specifications. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to large, complex projects, including remote man camp developments supporting major data center initiatives. Responsibilities

+ Bridge the gap between office-based project documentation and field execution by closely coordinating with superintendents and the QA/QC team.

+ Support superintendents in day-to-day field activities, providing more hands-on field support than a traditional project engineer role.

+ Assist with civil site development and infrastructure work, including ground-up construction, underground utilities, and related site improvements.

+ Coordinate materials and trades to ensure timely delivery, proper installation, and alignment with project specifications and schedules.

+ Support QA/QC activities in the field, including verification of work against drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

+ Assist with survey-related tasks and field technical activities to confirm layout, elevations, and locations for civil and structural work.

+ Maintain and organize project documentation, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field reports, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.

+ Contribute to basic project scheduling by tracking milestones, reporting progress, and identifying potential delays or issues.

+ Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field teams to resolve technical challenges and coordinate construction sequencing.

+ Support the execution of boardwalks, trailer connections, and other infrastructure within large man camp environments.

+ Promote safe work practices in the field by adhering to site safety protocols and reinforcing compliance among crews.

+ Adapt to fast-track project conditions and remote site logistics, helping to keep work progressing efficiently despite challenging environments. Essential Skills

+ Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. + 12+ years of experience supporting commercial or industrial construction projects.

+ Strong understanding of construction processes and field operations, particularly in civil construction and ground-up work.

+ Experience with civil site development and infrastructure projects.

+ Field technical experience, including QA/QC activities and survey support.

+ Proficiency with project documentation, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field reports.

+ Ability to use basic project scheduling tools to support planning and progress tracking.

+ Experience with material and trade coordination on active construction sites.

+ Willingness to work on project-based assignments in Texas, including remote locations. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working on remote, fast-track, or large-scale construction projects is preferred.

+ Background in commercial or industrial construction environments is beneficial.

+ Exposure to man camp or similar large temporary housing infrastructure projects is an advantage.

+ Strong communication and collaboration skills for working closely with superintendents, QA/QC teams, and project managers.

+ Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining alignment with project goals and documentation.

+ Detail-oriented approach to verifying work quality, survey data, and compliance with specifications. Work Environment This role is based onsite at Project Caprock near Highway 152 in Mobeetie, Texas, within a very remote man camp environment supporting large data center projects. The site functions as a 4,000-person temporary city, with extensive civil work, underground utilities, trailers, and boardwalks connecting living and working areas. The conditions can be dusty, hot, and subject to flies and other typical outdoor elements, requiring comfort with rugged field environments and sustained outdoor work. The position is heavily field-oriented, with daily interaction with superintendents, trades, and QA/QC teams on an active construction site. Work is project-based, and hours follow typical construction schedules, with the need to adapt to fast-track timelines and changing site conditions. Attire is practical field wear appropriate for a construction site, including any required safety gear and protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abilene, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
