Schedule:
1st Shift - Monday to Friday Active Weld Inspection Certification Needed Job Description This role focuses on ensuring the quality and compliance of welded and fabricated structural steel components in a weld and fabrication shop. You will perform detailed inspections throughout the production process, verify adherence to drawings, specifications, and industry codes, and support continuous improvement of quality standards. This is a first-shift position with overtime opportunities in a hands-on, production-focused environment. Responsibilities Conduct complete layout inspections by measuring dimensions such as length, height, angles, and radii using precision instruments including micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Verify quality at all stages of production, including incoming materials, in-process work, and final products, to ensure that all items meet required standards. Perform visual inspections of parts, welds, bolts, coatings, and assemblies, comparing pieces to detect variations and enforcing internal standards and legal requirements. Interpret and apply shop drawings, specifications, ASTM codes, AISC standards, DOT requirements, and welding, bolting, and painting codes during inspection activities. Essential Skills Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) credential with an active license Strong knowledge of welding symbols and diagrams, including the ability to interpret and apply them during inspections. High proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and other printed instructional materials used in structural steel fabrication. Proficiency in using inspection tools and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related equipment. Solid understanding of structural steel welding and fabrication processes, including weld inspection and structural steel inspection practices. Experience in fabrication and structural steel environments, including exposure to MIG welding, flux core welding, and steel welding operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a weld and fabrication shop, particularly with structural steel components. Hands-on familiarity with MIG welding, flux core welding, and structural steel welding processes, even if primarily in an inspection capacity. Experience with weld inspection in accordance with D1.1 or similar structural welding codes. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Reading, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
