Job Description
Certified Welding Inspector - Facility Project Position Overview Seeking a detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to oversee welding operations for a major industrial facility project. The position requires expertise in structural, pressure vessel, and piping systems inspection while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Key Responsibilities Inspect and verify facility welding processes according to
AWS D1.1, ASME
Section IX, and B31.3 requirements Review and validate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) Perform visual inspections of structural steel, pressure vessels, and process piping systems Coordinate with quality control team for various NDT testing requirements Verify material traceability and maintain material test reports (MTRs) Monitor heat treatment operations and verify post-weld heat treatment procedures Review welder qualifications and maintain certification records Conduct in-process inspections and final acceptance of completed welds Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain quality control documentation Identify and document non-conformances, recommend corrective actions Required Qualifications Valid AWS CWI certification Minimum 5 years' experience as a CWI in industrial facility construction Comprehensive knowledge ofAWS D1.1, ASME
Section IX, and B31.3 codes Experience with multiple welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) Strong understanding of metallurgy and weld failure mechanisms Proficient in quality control documentation and reporting systems Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications Experience with dimensional inspection tools and measuring equipment Preferred QualificationsASNT NDT
Level II certification in relevant methods API 570 Piping Inspector certification Experience with pressure vessel inspection Background in power generation or chemical processing facilities Knowledge of QA/QC management systems Experience with PMI (Positive Material Identification) testingSimilar remote jobs
