The Rock Island Arsenal - Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center is a state of the art, vertically integrated metal manufacturing facility. We are a readiness provider for the Department of War, designed to meet the needs of America's Warfighter. We are seeking an Industrial Radiographer/Non Destructive Testing Inspector to join our team. They will perform a full range of nondestructive testing (NDT) on various components and materials, including steel, aluminum, and titanium. Key Responsibilities & Main Duties Nondestructive Testing (NDT)

Operations:

Perform non-destructive inspections utilizing multiple testing methods—including Radiographic (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Liquid Penetrant (PT).

Defect Analysis & Evaluation:

Interpret radiographs and test data to identify, classify, and document surface and subsurface defects or discontinuities in critical components (e.g., steel, aluminum, and titanium weldments).

Visual Weld Inspection:

Conduct direct visual inspections of raw materials, fabricated components, and structural welds against engineering drawings and quality specifications.

Equipment Calibration & Maintenance:

Set up, calibrate, standardize, and maintain specialized NDT equipment, darkroom processing units, radiation monitoring devices, and safety gear.

Documentation & Compliance:

Complete detailed inspection reports, quality logs, and technical documentation in compliance with military standards and manufacturing codes.

Radiation Safety Protocol Enforcement:

Adhere to and enforce all workplace radiation safety procedures, boundary controls, and standard operating guidelines. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Subject to pre-employment and annual physical examination. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Skills Extensive knowledge of nondestructive testing techniques including radiographic (RT), ultrasonic (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), penetrant testing (PT), and X-ray inspection methods. Strong understanding of engineering testing principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints accurately. Mechanical knowledge with experience in assembly, hand tool operation, calipers, micrometers, soldering, and equipment testing. Familiarity with steel magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and steel radiographic testing (RT) procedures aligned with industry standards. Proficiency in quality control and quality assurance practices within manufacturing or aerospace environments. Ability to analyze test data critically and prepare detailed reports for review by engineering teams or clients. Excellent organizational skills for data collection, record keeping, and documentation using Microsoft Office applications.
