Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
SCC Inspection has a full-time long-term Inspection (NDT) Technician Assistant position available located in the Bakken area of North Dakota. The NDT Assistant is part of a team that provides testing and support to our wide range of clientele. They assist as the NDE Level II Technician performs routine to difficult field inspections, typically PAUT. Also occasionally assist in Magnetic Particle (MT) and Dye Penetrant (PT)testing of welded connections, perform visual observations of piping, structural steel, vessels, tanks, and other materials. Inspection operations occur primarily in outdoor field or fabrication shop environments. Travel to SCC staging areas is required. If projects require long term travel, per diem may be available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Help certified technicians set up, calibrate, and operate nondestructive testing tools (such as ultrasonic or magnetic particle testing gear). Transport, clean, and organize equipment, tools, and inspection materials before and after jobs. Secure work areas and follow strict safety guidelines, especially during radiographic or high-risk testing. Complete basic field reports, data logs, and timesheets under direct supervision. Assist a field inspector as required by applicable codes. Makes field inspections of sites and takes photographs of field operations as required. Learn to prepare written daily field observation reports and summary reports. Perform other duties as requested.
PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS
Must possess the traits to promote good working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors and clients. Must be able to communicate with inspectors, contractor, or client personnel and have the ability to operate calmly under pressure. Interact with client's field representatives to report results and conclusions. High School Diploma, GED, or College Certification Documented NDT Classroom Training (Preferred) Valid Driver's License Legal authorization to work in the United States TWIC credentials or ability to get them
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Background in oil & gas industry, construction, or inspection a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequent driving.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Frequent exposure to weather including hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather. Working conditions could be a combination based on season. he NDT technician assistant must be capable of doing all of the following with or without reasonable accommodation: NDT Technicians must be able to lift up to 50lbs of gear and materials, must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time. Must be capable of sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication to interact effectively with coworkers and clients. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation to ASNT standards is required. The technician must have sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to perform routine duties. This position requires sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a marine vessel or industrial environment which includes the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via narrow ladders and stairwells. $23.00 - $29.00 per hour
