Primary Function:
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for ensuring welded products and processes meet applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards through inspection, documentation, and collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams. Essential Job Functions•Responsibilities:
Perform detailed visual inspections of welds to verify compliance with AWS, ASME, and applicable industry standards Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications for compliance with specifications and requirements Identify weld defects or inconsistencies and recommend corrective actions to maintain product integrity and safety Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate quality documentation and records Collaborate with welding, engineering, and quality teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and quality objectives Interpret engineering drawings, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and technical documentation Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.Education and Experience:
(Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities) Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding inspection or related quality assurance role preferred Strong knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and applicable industry codes and standards Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and technical documentation Experience with aerospace welding standards includingAWS D17.1
Familiarity with ISO 9001, NADCAP, or similar quality management systems preferred Experience with non-destructive testing methods preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail Proficiency with digital inspection tools and quality reporting systems preferred ITAR- Must be a US Citizen Background
