Industrial Testing Laboratory Services is a local, independent testing laboratory located in Pittsburgh, PA; ITLS has been a leader in non-destructive testing services in the Pittsburgh region since 1959 and provides metallurgical, nondestructive and mechanical testing services primarily to component manufacturers supporting the defense industries. We are currently looking for a NDE Specialist (Level III) to join our company who is willing to learn, adapt and grow with Industrial Testing Laboratory Services.
Job Overview:
Join our dynamic team as a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Level III specialist, where you will lead critical inspection processes to ensure the integrity and safety of defense and nuclear related manufacturing components. In this role, you will utilize advanced NDT techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), penetrant testing to identify flaws and defects. Your expertise will support quality control and quality assurance initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards including ASME codes and standards. Primary Responsibilities:
Work alongside the NDE department head to coordinate scheduling. Respond to RFQ and customer inquiries. Provides technical expertise and guidance on NDE techniques, methods, and applications. Oversee the planning and execution of NDE activities both on-site and abroad. Provides technical support to technicians and inspectors. Manages NDE activities and ensures work is completed according to established priorities and milestones. Prioritize technician and scheduling assignments to support project timelines. Coordinates with NDE vendors and contractors to ensure appropriate staffing, resources, and scope requirements. Responds to and performs emergent NDE activities as needed. Oversees training, qualifications, and certification of NDE personnel. Leverages technology improvement across NDE organization.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 8 years of experience in NDE required. Ability to obtain and maintain NDE Level III certifications in applicable methods. Experience with multiple NDE methods, including RT, UT, MT and PT. Knowledge of PDI qualifications and applicable nuclear industry requirements. Ability to use computer scheduling programs and NDE inspection tools/equipment. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues and keep NDE activities on schedule. Ability to perform inspections, examinations, and testing in accordance with a defined quality program. Must meet applicable visual acuity and color differentiation requirements for NDE inspections. Certifiable NDE Level III in multiple methods in accordance with
ASNT/CP-189
requirements.
