Your Mission:
The NDT Supervisor oversees and coordinates all non-destructive testing (NDT) and quality inspection activities for defense (DOD NAVSEA), Army, and commercial projects. This role ensures that inspections are performed in compliance with military specifications, industry standards, and company quality procedures. The NDT Supervisor manages inspection personnel, maintains NDT equipment, reviews documentation, and provides technical guidance to ensure project compliance and high-quality standards. Role:
NDT Level III certification (ASNT or equivalent) strongly preferred; Level II certification in multiple NDT methods may be acceptable with supervisory experience. Proven supervisory experience in NDT and quality inspection for defense, government, and commercial projects. Strong knowledge of NAVSEA, Army, and commercial standards/specifications (e.g., MIL-STD, MIL-PRF, ASTM, AWS
D1.1/D1.5
). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and technical documents. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with QA documentation and reporting software. All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Mission Readiness:
Supervise and coordinate NDT and quality inspection personnel performing inspections on welding, fabrication, and assemblies across NAVSEA, Army, and commercial projects. Assign inspection tasks and ensure compliance with contractual, military, and commercial standards.
Oversee NDT activities including:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Magnetic Particle Testing (MT / MPI) Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT / LPT) Radiographic Testing (RT / X-ray) Visual Inspection (VT) Review and approve inspection plans, procedures, and reports. Ensure inspection personnel are trained, certified, and comply with ASNT, NAVSEA, Army, and internal standards. Interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and specifications to guide inspection teams. Identify non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with production and engineering teams. Maintain NDT equipment, ensuring proper calibration and compliance with standards. Participate in internal and external audits and inspections, representing the quality team for DOD, NAVSEA, Army, and commercial clients. Support continuous improvement initiatives in quality processes and NDT practices. Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, findings, and corrective actions. Prior experience supervising NAVSEA or Army contract inspections. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems. Experience implementing continuous improvement programs for inspection and NDT processes.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel between facilities, as business needs require.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly. May lift or carry 50lbs.
