Job Purpose/Summary:
Plains has an immediate opening for a Senior Corrosion Specialist based in Houston, Texas. Reporting to the Corporate Internal Corrosion Supervisor, this role serves as an operations and stakeholder liaison to support projects, strategic initiatives, and the Internal Corrosion Program in achieving safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in internal corrosion within the midstream and crude oil pipeline industry, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Occasional travel to field locations is required (10%). The selected candidate will be eligible for company benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off (PTO), and Free Parking.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and oversight for the Internal Corrosion Program across crude oil pipelines and facility assets throughout North America. Review, analyze, and interpret internal corrosion monitoring data to identify trends for the development, implementation, and optimization of mitigation strategies. Support pipeline and facility integrity assessments, risk evaluations, corrosion investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development related to internal corrosion threats and anomalies. Track and evaluate corrosion KPIs, program effectiveness, and compliance metrics while prioritizing workload and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with company standards, PHMSA regulations, and internal integrity program requirements; identify areas of non-compliance and support corrective actions as needed. Coordinate with Operations, Integrity, Engineering, field personnel, and chemical vendors to optimize mitigation effectiveness, integrity execution, and operational reliability. Support standardization and consistency of internal corrosion and integrity activities across North America while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency within the Operational Integrity team. Assist with budgeting, project planning, and implementation of internal corrosion-related initiatives and mitigation plans. Participate in field visits, audits, operational reviews, low-volume system reviews, and facility flow assessments to support program execution and data quality. Provide SME guidance, mentorship, technical recommendations, and timely communication, reports, and project updates to management and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
5+ years of integrity related experience (pipeline integrity, facility integrity, or corrosion). AMPP Certifications preferred, Level 2 required within a year of hired date. In-depth understanding of integrity management, failure mechanisms, and mitigative measures. Strong ability to interpret data, recognize trends, and develop actionable insights. Strong computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and industry applications. Ability to communicate technical information to a wide audience. A team focused attitude and demonstrated ability to function within a team. Willingness to travel to field locations (10%). Advanced problem-solving capabilities and proven ability to tackle complicated challenges. Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks.
