For more than 50 years, AEC has innovated advanced composite solutions for defense and commercial industries in applications from large commercial transports to fighter jets and commercial and military rotorcraft. Our composite design and fabrication expertise can be found on many commercial platforms such as Boeing's 7-series family, the Airbus A380 aircraft as well as Sikorsky S-76 helicopter. For defense programs, AEC provides a wide range of products including complete structural assemblies, flight critical components, primary and secondary structural elements for platforms such as the F-35 Lightning II, the CH-53K Heavy-lift Helicopter and the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM). Significant investment in infrastructure and automation ensures AEC is positioned to maximize that value, offering the right processes to meet our customer's needs. The NDT-UT Responsible L3 (RL3) Engineer acts on behalf of AEC in matters regarding the NDT qualification and certification process and manages NAS410 compliance. They own high level development and high impact NDT projects for aerospace structures, primarily using advanced composite materials. This includes the development and qualification for new NDT equipment and processes. The RL3 provides the NDT inspectors with technical interpretation, training, and certification. They apply theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of NDT engineering problems including development, equipment, and production. Primary customer interface for NDT functions.
Primary Responsibilities :
Act on behalf of AEC and responsible for the implementation and principal administration of the NDT qualification and certification program and administrate annual reviews to ensure compliance to NAS410 and customer requirements Develop high level and high impact NDT projects, including parts and equipment Designate qualified NDT personnel, including auditors, instructors, and examiners Approve and monitor outside agencies for NDT activities Administrate and maintain NDT personnel qualification and certification records Administrate yearly qualification/certification for NDT inspectors Assure NDT requirements for sequence: procedure and technique development and approval; training and examination of personnel to procedures and techniques. Support MRB disposition and interpretation of NDT findings Technical NDT discussions with customers to optimize processes Primary contact for customer technical issues
Requirements:
Experience/Skills Have a thorough knowledge of the codes, specifications, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT methods, including customer specifications, NAS410 and NADCAP for NDT. Have a thorough knowledge of materials, components, product technologies, NDT-UT methods and techniques for composite laminates, cores, and structural assemblies, including manufacturing processes. Experience in technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff; selecting the methods and techniques for specific inspections; verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions; directing training, examination and certification of personnel. Minimum 10 years' experience in PE, TTU and PA inspection of high-performance composites, including high level NDT process development and qualification for new products.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:
Hold a current ASNT Level 3 certification for
UT BS/BA
in Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Equivalent (AE/CE/IE) - As a Department of Defense Contractor we are required to hire US Persons. Visa sponsorship is not being offered.
