Big Ridge Services is seeking an AWS Certified Welding Inspector to perform shop and field inspections throughout the Inland Northwest. Our projects range from hydroelectric dams and mines to fabrication shops, industrial facilities, and structural steel construction. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, brings a positive attitude, and enjoys new challenges. Required Qualifications Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. Ability to interpret drawings, welding symbols, codes, and project specifications. Familiarity with inspection reporting and documentation. General computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PDFs, Google applications, and mapping tools. Strong attention to detail, communication, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently, collaborate with teammates, and navigate active job sites. Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays. Preferred Qualifications Level II certifications in UT, PAUT, MT, and/or PT. ICC Structural Steel and Bolting certification.
AMPP/NACE/SSPC
coatings inspection experience or certifications. Experience applying AWS and AISC codes and seismic welding requirements. Background in hydropower, mining, industrial facilities, or structural steel construction. NDT certifications are preferred, but not required. We're willing to train the right CWI who shows initiative, asks questions, and wants to advance professionally. General Responsibilities Inspect welding, structural steel fabrication and erection, and bolted connections in shop and field settings. Review welding procedure specifications (WPSs) and welder performance qualification records (WPQRs). Evaluate work against applicable codes, project plans, and specifications. Perform NDT inspections within your qualifications and certifications. Prepare accurate, timely reports and maintain project documentation. Communicate findings with the BRS team, contractors, welders, project representatives, and city officials. Manage assigned inspection schedules and follow company and site-specific safety requirements.
