Job Description
Description Responsibilities:
Risk Assessment & Safety Program Support:
- Conduct system safety engineering tasks, including risk assessments to ensure all procured systems are safe to operate and maintain.
- Assist in the development and review of system safety program plans and hazard analyses in accordance with
MIL-STD-882, AFI
91-202, and relevant AFMC supplements.Hazard Management:
- Establish and utilize hazard tracking logs to monitor and close out hazards until all aircraft or documentation modifications are completed.
- Maintain a file of all current mishap risk assessments and annually submit risk acceptance packages for risks designated as "high" or "serious."
Safety Group Meetings:
- Organize, generate, and present briefing materials for system safety group meetings.
- Co-chair meetings alongside the AF chief engineer and program's prime contractor representative.
Mishap Investigation & Reporting:
- Participate in mishap investigations and respond to findings and recommendations in mishap reports.
- Collaborate with functional disciplines to develop and report solutions to the Air Force Safety Center.
Safety Working Groups & Technical Reviews:
- Attend system safety working group meetings to address specific safety issues.
- Support requests for deviations, waivers, and Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings to safeguard aircraft systems.
- Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) &
Compliance:
- Evaluate ECPs, CCPs, TO modifications, and proposals related to hazard analyses and airworthiness documentation.
- Identify safety non-compliances regarding airworthiness and Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E).
Documentation & Safety Recommendations:
- Update program safety recommendations in the Air Force Safety Automated System (AFSAS) bi-annually.
- Assist in maintaining an up-to-date crisis management team roster and participate in crisis management team meetings.
