Opportunity:
Sterling Engineering's client, a leader in the advanced nuclear technology and thermal components space, is looking for a Quality Assurance Project Manager to join their organization. This is a stable company at the forefront of the energy sector, offering a unique opportunity to work on highly regulated, innovative public-sector utility projects that serve global communities.
Job Duties:
Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the quality assurance program, ensuring alignment with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements. Continuously analyze and evaluate program processes, including writing instructions, procedures, and guidance documents to enhance efficiency and program health. Organize and balance supplier and internal oversight activities to meet project timelines and stringent nuclear safety standards. Identify and resolve compliance issues related to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME Section III, providing expert guidance across the organization. Support and lead ASME Section III supplier qualification audits, surveillances, and internal assessments, ensuring high-quality oversight of critical components. Motivate, train, and mentor staff and Quality Assurance personnel, fostering a culture of nuclear safety and continuous technical development. Ensure the consistent production of components that meet ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code standards through rigorous review of procurement documents and data reports. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support project improvements and resolve technical challenges involving Authorized Inspection Agencies (AIA) and Code committees. Drive and implement industry-leading quality initiatives, staying current with NRC concerns and technological developments to elevate performance. Prepare regular reports and documentation on audit findings and program status, identifying solutions for senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred), Science, or a related technical field; alternatively, 18 years of highly relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the development and implementation of nuclear quality assurance programs, with at least 5 years specifically implementing an
ASME BPVC
Section III program. Proven ability to manage complex tasks and project-specific quality representations for multi-disciplinary internal and external stakeholders. Strong understanding of nuclear regulations including 10 CFR 50 Appendix
B, 10 CFR
21, NQA-1, and ASME Section III; experience with
ISO 9001
is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and lead auditing skills; must be a certified Lead Auditor or have the ability to become one. Demonstrated ability to lead by example, providing technical education and mentorship while fostering a positive, high-performance nuclear safety culture. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the organization to external stakeholders, Code committees, and regulatory bodies.
