All Experience Levels About the Position We are seeking a talented and motivated Optical Coatings Engineer to join our team. This role will be involved in the development, design, characterization, and optimization of optical coatings for a wide range of applications. We welcome candidates ranging from early-career engineers to experienced optical coatings professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and an interest in developing high-performance coating solutions for demanding optical applications. Responsibilities Design and develop optical coating solutions for a variety of substrates, wavelengths, and performance requirements Develop coating designs using optical modeling and thin-film design techniques Analyze coating performance including transmission, reflection, absorption, durability, and environmental stability Work with coating deposition processes and equipment to develop and optimize manufacturing processes Characterize optical coatings using spectrophotometers, ellipsometers, and other measurement equipment Troubleshoot coating performance, process variation, and manufacturing issues Develop and document coating specifications, processes, test procedures, and technical reports Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production teams Support prototype development, process qualification, and transition of coatings into production Perform root-cause analysis and recommend improvements to coating designs and processes Stay current with developments in thin-film materials, deposition technologies, optical modeling, and coating characterization Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Experience with optical coatings, thin-film optics, vacuum deposition, or optical characterization is preferred Strong understanding of optics, thin-film principles, and material properties Experience with optical modeling or thin-film design software is a plus Ability to analyze experimental data and troubleshoot technical problems Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams Preferred Skills Thin-film optical design and modeling Optical coating deposition technologies Vacuum systems and deposition equipment Spectrophotometry and ellipsometry Optical metrology and characterization Materials science and thin-film materials Process development and optimization Statistical analysis and experimental design Technical documentation and engineering reports Root-cause analysis and continuous improvement What We Offer Opportunity to work on a broad range of optical coating technologies and applications Hands-on involvement in research, development, testing, and manufacturing Opportunities for professional growth and advancement Collaborative engineering environment Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications
