Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize complex optical systems using advanced simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and AutoCAD. Lead system development verification processes to ensure optical components meet specifications and industry standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate optical systems with electronic hardware including FPGA, SoC (System on Chip), and PCB designs. Conduct root cause analysis for optical system failures or performance issues, implementing corrective actions efficiently. Prepare detailed electrical schematics and circuit designs for optical and electronic components using CAD software like Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks. Perform hands-on assembly, soldering, and debugging of optical modules and electronic circuits utilizing tools such as oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and soldering stations. Ensure compliance with electrical building codes (NEC), NFPA 70 standards, and industry safety protocols during all phases of design and testing. Support manufacturing processes by providing technical guidance on surface mount technology (SMT), PCB fabrication, and assembly techniques. Develop automation scripts in Python or Perl to streamline testing procedures and system validation workflows. Apply expertise in quantum engineering principles where applicable to enhance the performance of specialized optical systems. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees preferred. Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on electronics design, system development, or optical engineering. Strong proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks for electrical schematic design and mechanical modeling. Extensive knowledge of FPGA programming (SystemVerilog), C++, Python scripting, MATLAB/Simulink for system simulation and control systems development. Hands-on experience with PCB design—including surface mount technology—and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with electrical systems design standards including NEC codes and NFPA 70 compliance requirements. Skilled in debugging complex electronic circuits using oscilloscopes, multimeters, firmware tools, and lab equipment. Expertise in signal processing techniques relevant to optical data transmission and communications systems engineering. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automation systems, industrial automation practices, and control system integration. Ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently while managing project schedules effectively using project management tools. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams on complex projects involving optics, electronics, mechanical systems, and software development.
