This is an 11-month contract with a potential for extension. This is a hybrid position
  • 3 days a week in office.
Pay:
$52.00
  • $57.
00/hr ; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
Description:
The Telecom Delivery
  • Carolinas East team in Raleigh is currently seeking an individual with Optical Transport engineering and project delivery experience to join its team.
The Senior Transport Engineer will be responsible for carrier transport engineering and designs for backhaul communications leveraging multiple technologies including private optical, microwave, cellular, and 3rd party carrier circuits. Additional consideration will be given for candidates with a broad range of exposure to other technologies such as Power (AC & DC) and Data network engineering.
Responsibilities:
Review fiber path availability and optical budgets Complete high-level ring design based on available fiber paths and ring connections to the existing optical network Verify DC availability for each site Verify rack space availability for each site Review existing circuits that need to be migrated; determine which circuits can be converted to Ethernet and plan accordingly Order and verify materials required for the project Create or update design drawings and write construction packages Create Ciena 39xx configurations Identify Ciena 6500 eMOTR configuration changes necessary to connect to new ring Write Installation Plan or Method of Procedure for equipment in-service cutover Support Field Services remotely as they turn up new ring Build G.8032 ring Upgrade 39xx software as needed; create backup task if required Turn ring over to Provisioning Work collaboratively with engineers from other disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of the
  • network and design solutions accordingly Develop skills to engineer and support a multi-discipline environment (Optical, Microwave, Data, Power, etc.
) Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills Maintain accurate records and files Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally Maintain current knowledge of the industry to leverage more effective or emerging technologies
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or related field In addition to required degree, five (5) years minimum related work experience In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s) AND five (5) years minimum related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 10 years minimum related work experience
Desired Qualifications:
Direct hands-on experience with Ciena 39xx, 6500, Alcatel Client
DMX, SEL
Icon and IMux carrier optical equipment Direct hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, Open Gear, and NetGuardian management/monitoring devices, and Cambium/Nokia microwave devices Direct hands-on experience with Telecom
UPS & DC
Plant systems including Eltek, Vertiv, Powerware, and Delta Fundamental knowledge of Agile methodology, Kanban, and Jira Experience with Service Now tools and processes Experience and proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, SharePoint, Teams and Outlook Direct experience with a document management system and how to check-out, revise, and check-in documents Ability to work self-directed and be a team player Ability to resolve complex issues that require significant freedom of action and sound judgment with little management oversight Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with different levels within the organization; ability to work effectively in a work plan driven/team environment Good written and oral communication skills Develops and applies telecom technologies for the business Superior working knowledge of the telecommunications systems, associated safety policies, practices, work procedures and regulatory requirements Superior inter-personal skills (listening, conflict management, approachability, negotiations) with ability and willingness to share information and transfer knowledge to others Ability to present information on technically complex subjects in an understandable manner in both oral and written form to business clients and senior management Top skills needed
