Glendale, CA Job Details Full-time $30 - $40 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications CAD software Lighting systems Cross-functional communication Local electrical codes Full Job Description S Y Lee Associates, Inc. is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in MEP building systems. Our projects include commercial, educational/K-12 and higher education, municipal, healthcare, institutional, mixed-use, residential, private development, and other public-sector facilities , including new construction, renovations, modernizations, system upgrades, and existing-building assessments. We are looking for someone who can take an active role in electrical design, work independently on projects, and provide technical direction to our engineers, designers, and drafting staff. Responsibilities Lead the design of electrical power, lighting, lighting controls, emergency power, and related building systems from design through construction documents. Perform and review electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, and other electrical engineering calculations. Prepare and review electrical plans, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, details, and construction documents. Provide engineering direction and markups to designers and drafting staff. Review drawings for accuracy, code compliance, and coordination with other disciplines. Perform field surveys and evaluate existing electrical systems and equipment. Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, agencies, and other members of the project team. Respond to plan-check comments, RFIs, submittals, and construction-related questions. Help manage project schedules and technical deliverables and mentor junior staff as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline. 7+ years of electrical engineering experience with a strong background in MEP/building systems. Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and applicable building and electrical codes. Experience preparing and reviewing construction documents for building projects. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit . Ability to work independently, make sound engineering decisions, and provide direction to production staff. Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills. Preferred Experience California Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Power distribution, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, generators, and emergency/standby power systems. Lighting, lighting controls, and Title 24 requirements. Fire alarm and low-voltage system coordination. Existing-building renovations, modernization, equipment replacement, and electrical system assessments. California educational, healthcare, municipal, institutional, and public-sector projects. Familiarity with California Electrical Code, Title 24, DSA, and/or HCAI requirements . Experience leading projects and mentoring engineering and design staff.
