Job Description
Job Description We are seeking an experienced Lead Power Utility Engineer to support major utility infrastructure programs across California. This individual will serve as the central engineering lead responsible for coordinating design activities, managing EPC project delivery, and ensuring quality across transmission, distribution, substation, and civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in utility engineering design, project execution, and client-facing coordination within regulated utility environments. This role will support large-scale utility initiatives including substation modernization, grid hardening, wildfire mitigation, undergrounding, and transmission and distribution system improvements. - Serve as the primary engineering point of contact and project lead for utility infrastructure projects.
- Manage engineering deliverables, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder communications.
- Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, subcontractors, and external consultants.
- Support the planning, design, and execution of Transmission system upgrades, Distribution infrastructure improvements, Overhead hardening and wildfire mitigation programs,, Undergrounding projects, Substation upgrade and modernization initiatives, Utility civil infrastructure projects
- Perform engineering reviews and QA/QC of design packages.
- Ensure designs meet utility, regulatory, and client requirements.
- Support project execution from conceptual design through construction and commissioning.
- Interface directly with utility clients and provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.

https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/. Skills and Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Structural, or related Engineering discipline.
- 8-10+ years of substation, transmission and fire hardening utility engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting power delivery infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in one or more of the following: Transmission systems, Distribution systems, Substation engineering, Overhead hardening programs, Undergrounding projects, Wildfire mitigation initiatives
- Experience performing engineering design reviews and QA/QC.
- Experience working for a utility, engineering consulting firm, or EPC contractor.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience supporting California investor-owned utilities
- Experience delivering EPC or design-build utility projects.
- Familiarity with CPUC-driven utility programs, including wildfire mitigation and undergrounding initiatives.
- Strong understanding of utility capital project delivery processes.
