ASAP Design the Intelligent Systems Behind Tomorrow's HVAC Technology PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Lead Senior Systems Engineer to help develop next-generation HVAC products that are smarter, more connected, and built for performance. This role is ideal for a systems-thinking engineer with experience working on software-centric embedded systems , leading technical initiatives, and driving products through the full lifecycle from requirements and architecture to integration, validation, and release. You'll work closely with global hardware, software, controls, and test teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and compliant solutions that power the future of connected climate-control technology. What You'll Do Define and manage system and subsystem requirements using INCOSE systems engineering principles Develop functional specifications, interface requirements, system modes, and control logic Ensure requirements are clear, traceable, and validated throughout the product lifecycle Partner with hardware, software, controls, and test teams to drive successful system integration Manage requirements, issue tracking, and change control using JIRA and Confluence Support system integration, functional testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities Contribute to end-of-line (EOL) testing, commissioning, and diagnostic strategies Participate in technical reviews and support continuous improvement of systems engineering practices Provide technical leadership and contribute to cross-functional engineering efforts throughout product development What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering Experience in Systems Engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Background in HVAC, automotive, rail, aerospace, energy systems, or similar industries Experience with system requirements development, lifecycle management, functional decomposition, and interface management Experience working on software-centric embedded systems Hands-on experience with engineering tools for requirements and documentation management Strong understanding of requirements management, change management, and system integration activities 5+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related engineering discipline Knowledge of embedded control systems and communication protocols (CAN, RS-485, BLE, Ethernet, Wi-Fi) Experience with HVAC controls, smart home technologies, energy management, or connected products Familiarity with OTA updates, telemetry frameworks, INCOSE SE Handbook, ISO 15288, and MBSE methodologies Experience maintaining requirements traceability throughout development and validation Leadership experience as a Systems Lead, Software Lead, Technical Lead, Project Lead, or similar role Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills You should be proficient in: Change Management Communication Protocols (CAN, RS-485, BLE, Ethernet, Wi-Fi) Connected Products / IoT Embedded Controls Embedded Systems (Software-Centric Preferred) Hardware/Software Integration MBSE (SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.) Requirements Development & Management Requirements Traceability Systems Engineering Technical Leadership (Systems Lead, Software Lead, Project Lead) HVAC, Automotive, Aerospace, Rail, Energy Systems, or Industrial Controls Machines & technologies you'll use: ARM Cortex-Based Systems BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Building Automation Systems Embedded Linux Ethernet HVAC Control Boards RTOS (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Zephyr) OTA Update Systems
