Job Description
About the Role As a High Voltage Power Systems Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of complex electrical distribution networks. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium and high voltage infrastructure, directly impacting the operational continuity of essential facilities. Responsibilities Execute repairs and maintenance on overhead and underground high voltage distribution systems to ensure maximum uptime. Operate specialized heavy machinery, including bucket and line trucks, to perform aerial and ground-level electrical work. Conduct rigorous testing and diagnostic analysis on transformers, circuit interrupters, and voltage regulators to verify system integrity. Manage project planning, material estimation, and site coordination to deliver high-quality infrastructure improvements. Implement strict safety protocols, including LOTO procedures and hazard mitigation, to protect personnel and equipment. Document system performance and maintenance activities to maintain accurate records and compliance with industry standards. Provide technical guidance to support staff during complex installations and emergency response operations. Required Skills Completion of an accredited Lineman program or 4+ years of documented experience with 1kV+ systems. Proficiency in electrical theory, mathematics, and the interpretation of technical schematics and blueprints. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and ability to obtain necessary site access credentials. Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and relevant safety codes for high voltage environments. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy manual labor and operate in challenging outdoor conditions. Preferred Skills Current OSHA 10-Hour certification or higher. Advanced experience with high-potential testing and insulation resistance diagnostics. Proven track record in managing electrical projects from estimation to commissioning. Experience with HAZMAT safety inspections and regulatory documentation.
