Imagine stepping onto the Cleveland production floor just as a process variation appears. You dive into the data, apply SPC to pinpoint the cause, align maintenance and contractors to correct it, and close the loop by updating standards—partnering throughout with the Engineering Manager and the Plant Superintendent. That's the rhythm of this role: solve, improve, sustain. Your mission Be the go-to troubleshooter for equipment and process issues, including process control systems. Use statistical process control to enhance batch quality and consistency. Lead and facilitate efficiency initiatives—owning them through to verified, realized benefits. Grow through hands-on involvement in small-scale capital projects. Collaborate with vendors to set specifications, evaluate against standards, and procure the right solutions. Coordinate with in-house maintenance and external contractors to execute repairs and improvements. Reimagine layouts by analyzing space and workflow to optimize safety, efficiency, and throughput. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (ABET accredited). Track record in project management and implementing multi-department process improvements. Results-oriented collaborator with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication. Analytical problem-solver with emerging leadership. How you communicate and collaborate Express ideas clearly and succinctly across audiences and formats. Comfortable presenting findings and addressing questions or concerns. Approach interactions with courtesy, tact, and respect. Technical toolkit and work style Protects confidential information; consistently meets deadlines; thrives independently with minimal oversight. Supports a harassment-free, team-centered environment. Detail-driven; advanced user of Excel, Word, and similar office tools. Proficient with AutoCAD and Autodesk Fusion 360. Familiar with PLCs and Ladder Logic programming. Reads blueprints and architectural drawings; creates and interprets P&IDs. Understands plant systems holistically (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, boilers, etc.). Responds efficiently to plant system and utility outages. Strong, persistent follow-up with contractors via in-person, phone, and email. Manufacturing experience preferred. Capable of defining problems, collecting/analyzing data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Comfortable in a fast-moving environment; willing to work off-shift hours as needed.
