Primarily office-based with occasional field visits Position Overview We are seeking an Engineering Technologist III to provide technical and project support for major electric distribution projects in the Triad Zone. This role supports distribution system upgrades from the substation through to the customer and works closely with engineering firms, customers, contractors, and internal management. The Engineering Technologist III is a senior-level technical position responsible for resolving complex issues, coordinating project activities, and providing technical expertise with limited supervision. The position will also participate in field visits and customer meetings and may provide support during storm response efforts locally or in other designated locations as needed. Key Responsibilities Provide technical expertise and support for complex electric distribution projects. Support distribution system upgrades from substations through customer connections. Coordinate work with engineering firms, contractors, customers, and internal management. Participate in field visits and customer meetings as needed. Assist with planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring project activities. Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues within the area of expertise. Prepare accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches. Conduct engineering-related studies and provide technical guidance. Maintain accurate project records, files, and documentation. Utilize Maximo and BOUD to support project and operational activities. Develop and maintain positive working relationships across multiple teams and stakeholders. Support storm response activities locally or at other designated locations when required. Continuously develop technical and professional knowledge and skills. Represent the company professionally and support overall business goals. Required Qualifications Direct experience in electric distribution is required. Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6 years of equivalent relevant experience without a degree. Experience in the utility industry. Understanding of basic project management principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to work independently and provide technical direction with limited supervision. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting electric utility distribution projects. Experience coordinating engineering firms, contractors, customers, or other external stakeholders. Experience with Maximo and/or BOUD. Experience with project planning, estimating, scheduling, and documentation. Previous experience supporting storm response or utility emergency operations. Work Environment & Requirements Primarily an office-based position with occasional field visits. Approximately 40 miles of driving may be required. PPE is required during applicable field visits, including: Hard hat Safety glasses Safety shoes Safety vest No regular physical labor, lifting, ladder climbing, or machinery operation is required.
