- Description
- This person will be supporting our clients IT team based out of Santa Clara. The team is supporting new office and lab builds across the US. This team is responsible for building and prioritizing plans for the low voltage and structure cabling within new office and lab builds as well as maintenance on existing projects.
- 5+ years of working experience in related fields such as Telecommunications consulting, construction project management, low-voltage cabling installation
- Understanding of network components and architectures
- Ability to go onsite a few days a week. Physically lift, install, and inspect components in a rack
- A strong affinity for technology and technical subjects
- Curious, creative, and constantly thinking about how to improve processes
- Ability to be proactive and work with minimal direction
- Good project management with excellent organizational skills
- Availability to work across different time zones to support global regions
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- - A/V, Security, - patience to coordinate w/ all the different individuals and have a positive attitude to get things done. Required to be on-site at least 4 days a week in Santa Clara.
- What you'll be doing:
- Construction engineering lead
- Partner with facility and end user stakeholders to define needs
- Engage with network and Audiovisual engineers and document their infrastructure requirements
- Define locations for equipment within network rooms (security/BAS panels, rack positions for network gear, service provide wall fields).
- Produce construction documents and specifications for low voltage contractors
- Technical stakeholder for low voltage bidding and contractor selection
- Regularly walk construction projects and provide site reports with our clients feedback on work
- Record close-out and warranty documentation at project completion
- Document the network rooms and their components within our asset management database system utilizing excel based mass importation, or through the browser user interface (Netbox)
- Regional PIC for network room engineering
- Track capacity of available ports, fiber plant, and PDU outlets within network rooms
- Configure and connect smart PDU/UPS, working with monitoring team to provide alerting at correct thresholds
- Assisting small initiatives occasionally by racking and cabling equipment
- Regularly audit IT environments to identify changes that have occurred, cleaning up rooms and cabling while there
- Global Engineering team member
- Join with other engineering team members in global team to continuously refine and develop infrastructure standards
- PIC for engineering team initiatives
- Create roadmap
- Define steps or workflow
- Plan and justify budget
- Track through completion
- Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- RCDD certification
- BS in Engineering or equivalent education/experience
- Autodesk (AutoCAD, Revit) experience
- Bluebeam studio familiarity
