Job Description

Overview This position performs high level engineering reviews and checks reviews done by less experienced engineers. The Engineer IV coordinates the review and approval or disapproval of land development proposals including but not limited to, plats, utility plans, stormwater quality management plans, infrastructure design plan sets, and building permits for conformance with city standards. This position also addresses general customer inquiries related to land development engineering whether in person or via phone or email.
Bonus:
$10,000 initial sign on bonus (external candidates only) Responsibilities
  • Reviews and coordinates the processing of difficult to very difficult development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, ordinances, and city standards. Assists in the evaluation of rezonings, site plans, variances, infrastructure, and other proposals. Ensures compliance with Federal/State Law
  • Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues related to engineering requirements and/or reviews
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to such as owners/developers, engineers, architects, surveyors, etc. concerning the engineering plan review. Prepare memos and PowerPoint presentations for variances that go to a board or commission
  • Effectively communicates in person and by phone or email. Accurately conveys relevant project details to decision makers. Interact with various City Departments, owners/developers, engineers, architects, surveyors, and other agencies to provide planning, project review, and execution of development projects. Review and approve plans and documents
  • Works with engineers, construction contractors, and city inspectors to define and process addendums as needed throughout construction. Interpret maps, plats and construction drawings Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

  • Non-Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday
  • Friday, 8:00am
  • 5:00pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
  • 6 years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certificate at time of hire Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:
