Due to continued growth, ourPower Delivery group is seekingaSubstation Engineer- Physical Designin one of the following office locations: Dallas, TX Houston, TX Orlando, FL Tampa, FL Palm Beach Gardens, FL Overland Park, KS Kennesaw, GA Remote #LI-MB1 Responsibilities Imagine a day whereyou'redesigning the backbone of the power grid-drafting substation layouts, running protection and grounding analyses, and fine-tuning relay settings that keep energy flowing safely. You collaborate with engineers across disciplines, solve real-world challenges, and see your designs come to life in the field. Every detail you contribute will help power entire communities-safely, reliably, and sustainably.
Substation Design & Drafting:
Develop electric substation drawings, includingGeneralArrangments, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts. Work closely with the Civil Engineering department to develop substation foundation and structuredetaildrawings
Engineering Analysis & Calculations:
Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
Technical Documentation & Specifications:
Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes
Collaboration & Quality Assurance:
Work closely with peers to ensureaccurateand on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
Field Support:
Providing on-site technical support forselectENERCON clients during construction and commissioning asrequired Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineeringfrom an ABET-accredited university Minimum of6years of experience in Substation engineering, with a primary focus on executingsubstation physical designprojects Non-senior roles will be considered with 3+ years of experience Familiarity withsubstation physical design parameters and associated information needed to complete design Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provideaccurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings Preferred Qualifications Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment 500kV substation engineering experience Professional Engineer (PE) license, with active NCEES record for reciprocity Field testing/commissioning experience AutoCAD Electrical design experience Compensation Range USD $93,100.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
