at Rivian in Normal, Illinois, United States Job Description Lead Engineers Supplier Development with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Normal, IL. Support launch activities and production ramp up of Body Interior systems and leading supplier development and quality activities throughout the product lifecycle, from prototype builds through stable production. Serve as the technical lead and primary liaison between Rivian and the supplier base to ensure Body Interior components meet all design, quality, and manufacturing requirements. Coordinate cross-functional teams including Design Responsible Engineer, manufacturing, and supplier management to resolve issues identified during prototype and production builds. Lead investigation and resolution of supplier quality issues by driving structured root cause analysis and implementing robust corrective actions to ensure compliance with Rivian standards. Guide suppliers through APQP and PPAP processes, ensuring readiness for launch and sustained production performance. Work with Supplier Development organization during vehicle launch activities at the plant, and work closely with manufacturing and program teams to mitigate risks, resolve build issues, and maintain strong cross-functional collaboration. Apply advanced engineering knowledge and supplier development expertise to identify systemic issues, implement preventive actions, and drive continuous improvements in quality, cost, and delivery performance across the supply base. Ensure lessons learned from field and build issues are communicated back to core and advanced engineering teams to improve future product and process designs. Domestic and international travel required approximately 30% of the time.
RQMTS:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a closely related field and 5 years of [or a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in as stated above, or a closely related field and 2 years of] in any occupation involving product development engineering experience. Experience must include working with developing and validating components used in the interior of vehicle; driving resolution of complex engineering and quality issues using advanced problem-solving methodologies, including containment definition, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons learned implementation; launching and delivering multiple vehicle programs into production focusing on interior commodities; performing and evaluating Gage R&R studies to validate measurement systems and ensuring data reliability for manufacturing and quality processes; managing program milestones required for successful launch of new model year vehicles; working with industrialization and production process associated with tooling for plastic injection molding; and applying advanced analytical and problem-solving tools Six Sigma methodologies, hypothesis testing, design of experiments, and process capability studies.
Salary Range:
$115,000-$172,000/yr.
