Job Description
Responsibilities Manage and execute work for new product development projects, quality/reliability projects, and cost improvement programs that involve design and application of plastic components. Interact directly with Quality and Manufacturing teams to effectively contribute to new product development and ensure product reliability. Interact with raw material suppliers, internal and external molders, and mold builders to coordinate and manage the external deliverables through the product development process. Use appropriate test methods in designing parts, selecting appropriate manufacturing materials and processes, and writing test plans to ensure that the product meets or exceeds customers' requirements. Manages timelines for design, fabrication, and qualification of plastic/composite products. Facilitate technical design reviews as part of the new product development process and facilitate design reviews with external suppliers for tooling and molding of plastic/composite products. Skills VAVE methodology driven. Proven ability to drive innovative ideas/solutions into product designs. Experienced in designing and running analysis with Mold Flow. Experienced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for part optimization. Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Engineering or similar area of focus with 3+ years of new product development in the plastics industry; co-op experience will be considered. Design knowledge, and application experience with thermoplastic and thermoset materials Process knowledge for injection molding, extrusion, structural foam molding, blow molding, rotational molding, and thermoforming (single and twin sheet) processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Program/project management skills with an understanding of stage gate product development processes.
