Lead Handles Development Engineer Infosmart Technologies Inc Dearborn, MI Job Details Permanent Up to $80,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Statistics Supplier management Statistical Process Control GD&T Statistical analysis Six Sigma Product development projects Design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) FEA Engineering product development Design for manufacturability (DFM) Manufacturing Plastics Project scheduling Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking high-caliber Lead Engineers to spearhead the development of Automotive Door Handles on several current production programs with client's supplier partners. This role focuses on the end-to-end development of one exterior handle mechanism and several interior handles where the Handles will be newly re-engineered based on existing parts with new supplier partners. Each role will be split to lead a unique handle architecture type and its variants. You will lead a strategic supplier through an accelerated "go-fast" application, moving from design to production readiness. The lead engineer will also need to work with affected cross-functional teams to ensure interface requirements are considered and met, including latching and closures sub-system. Duties
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop product design.
  • Track delivery milestones and planning that achieve scheduled PPAP.
  • Perform design, CAD, drawing reviews
  • Run and coordinate analytical verification (simulation, calculation, stack-up, T&E)
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, requirements, and related specifications. (Healthchart/Checklist)
  • Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Integrates all known Product, Process & Lessons Learned issues into the FMEA.
  • Coordinates supplier validation testing and review the test reports.
  • Coordinates with internal vehicle and sub-system validation testing.
  • Regular communication with the involved internal/external technical groups.
  • Prepare interim and completion project reports.
  • Prepare technical presentations.
  • Release for production (WERS) / support the production (SREA, Alerts) Required Skills
  • 6-8 years of mechanisms development experience (preferably related to latching, handles, and exterior mechanisms)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering plastics and steels, and manufacturing processes such as molding, stampings, castings.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of water management and sealing design, greases, painted plastics.
  • Preferred experience and understanding of electronics such as microswitches and small harnesses.
  • Perform (as needed) and lead suppliers with tolerance analysis studies
  • Awareness and preferred capability of tolerance analytical tools such as C-Tol, 3DCS, Enventive, VSA, etc..
  • Awareness and preferred capability of CAE tools (ADAMS, Working Model, CATIA FEA, Hypermesh, etc..)
  • Engineering expertise with DFMEA (including B/P-Diagram, RDM, Interface Matrix), DVP&R, DOE, Problem Solving & 6-sigma tools (5D/8D/6-panel, etc.
.), SPC methods, Statistical analysis, DFM/DFA, GD&T.
Pay:
Up to $80,000.00 per year
