The Role
  • Amphenol Commercial Air is seeking a New Product Development Engineering Supervisor to work out its new facility in Endicott, NY .
The New Product Development Engineer Supervisor is responsible for leading the New Product Development (NPD) engineering team, a multifunctional engineering team focused on the development of electrical connectors and busbars. This role is responsible for prototyping and validation testing in support of new product development and provides leadership and direction to a team of engineers to achieve departmental objectives. The incumbent must be technically strong enough to knowledgeably guide and support direct reports on hands-on design, prototyping, and test work, and will personally perform hands-on tasks as needed. The key responsibilities of the New Product Development Engineering Supervisor include, but are not limited to: Responsible for supervision, mentorship, and development of multidisciplinary engineering team consisting of Design, Development, and Test Engineers supporting new product development for electrical connectors and busbars setting priorities and balancing workload across concurrent programs. Provide technical oversight and hands-on guidance across the product development lifecycle
  • from concept through prototyping, validation testing, and design transfer to production.
Leads and actively participates in product development efforts including; design reviews, project execution, and manufacturing transition. Leads performance management, including coaching, development, and formal reviews of team members. Provides technical support and coordination across internal departments, including Operations and Quality. Ensures the team is properly trained and safe on 3D printers, molding presses, laser cutters, diffusion welders, and other shop/lab equipment. Works closely with Design and Design Application Engineers, to refine products based on customer and application requirements. Identifies and drives improvements to internal prototyping and product development processes, working closely with Amphenol sister divisions Location

  • The key skills and qualities of a New Product Development Engineering Supervisor at
Amphenol Commercial Air:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience), with 3+ years of relevant experience. Demonstrated hands-on experience in product development and prototyping, with the ability to knowledgeably support and step in on hands-on work as needed is required. Experience with electrical connectors or related aerospace products is preferred; experience with flexible busbars, high power, or high voltage products is a plus. Practical experience with 3D printing/additive manufacturing, molding, laser cutting, diffusion welding, and/or basic machining is preferred. Experience with CAD (Creo or equivalent) and PDM systems (Windchill or equivalent) preferred. Familiarity with industry test standards such as DO-160, EIA-364, EN2591, or similar is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to lead and motivate teams with diverse technical backgrounds. Excellent communication skills with experience mentoring engineers and developing technical documentation Ability to travel < 10% of the time. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. Use of a computer from 1 to 8 hours a day. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Possible travel domestic or overseas.
