Job Description

Job Summary:
The Weld Development Engineer develops procedures and tooling for production processes using electron and laser beam welding technology. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and project management experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop plans, procedures, inspection requirements, acceptance criteria and specifications for welding Program CNC code for EB & laser welders for customer jobs Modify provided CNC code to properly operate, track, tack, and weld customer parts CNC programming & Aerotech programming Parameter development for new jobs Evaluate projects for appropriate tooling requirements to determine most efficient utilization of several multi-axis machine tools Develop CAM programs for CNC operators with efficient toolpath support on challenging projects Work with manufacturing, maintenance, tool vendors, quality and management to solve and correct existing and anticipated manufacturing problems Communicate with customers regarding status, quality issues and design/process improvements Set up welding & laser marking machinery for operators Operate welding & laser marking machinery for specific high-complexity jobs Analyze existing engineering operations and initiate process improvements
Required Competencies:
Ability to solve complex technical problems with a professional level of weld engineering knowledge Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, product and process design Ability to develop a process to perform an industry accepted weld that can be transferred to a production environment Strong manufacturing support skills in fundamental machining practices, including good work holding techniques Familiarity with Aerotech and Siemens CNC / motion controllers
Required Education and Experience:
BS degree required in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Metallurgical, Industrial Engineering or a related field 2 years of engineering experience 1 year of project management experience 1 year 2D/3D CAD experience
Preferred Experience:
Welding experience Familiarity with
NADCAP, ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485

$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
