Product Development Engineer

In this role you will assist with developing new products and renovating existing products to align with customers, market needs, and category strategy. You will also provide product technical support to sales and other areas of the organization. This person will first report onsite to the AMSOIL center in Superior, Wisconsin. After a training period, this position will have a hybrid work schedule requiring at least two days a week in the office.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct field trials for the purpose of collecting and analyzing test data for product validation purposes and performance claims. Analyze competitive products and provide perspective on product points of difference and points of parity. Contribute to conception, advocate for, and assist with execution of new products using AMSOIL Product Development tools and techniques. Assist in the creation of test plans for internal/external use, oversee testing and write reports with conclusions and recommendations. Collaborate with AMSOIL Mechanical Lab and Chemical Lab or external facilities to develop test formulations. Provide inputs for Data Sheet/SDS for all new products and/or reformulated products within product scope. Verify and validate product performance vs. product requirements. Complete final sign-off activities to ensure the product meets requirements and is ready for sale/launch. Act as a technical expert resource for internal and external customers on products and the applications for which they are used. This may require travel to visit external customers. Provide technical training to internal and external customers when needed. Communicate and work directly with OEMs and AMSOIL Product Development team to gain approvals and support of AMSOIL products. Partner with other members of Product Development team to provide technical support for sales calls that support Business Development. Support testing and analysis in the Chemical Lab based on Sales specifications and requirements. Attend technical trade shows and interacting with suppliers.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering A minimum of 2 years of related work experience Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of applications in which AMSOIL products are used (e.g., industrial machinery, passenger cars, diesel engines, and powersports equipment) Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical team members Excellent test planning, data analysis, and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the lubrication industry
