Exempt Location:
Richburg, SC, USA Summary:
The Senior Engineer- Tire Development is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of tire development for the North American market.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide input to the product master plan for the North American market
- Coordinate with Product Marketing and R D to define targets, timelines, and cost parameters for prototype development
- Define, manage, and analyze results of indoor and outdoor testing programs
- Collaborate to develop tire cavity, construction, and pattern designs
- Recommend design modifications to molds, constructions, and compounds to meet performance targets
- Oversee or lead the design of additional sizes and product extensions
- Participate in conferences, training, and industry events to remain current in tire technology
- Mentor junior engineers and assist in developing design standards and guidelines
- Represent the company in industry organizations, standards bodies, and customer meetings
- Serve as a technical expert and resource to Marketing and Sales teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- 10+yrs prior experience in tire design and development within the tire industry is required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of tire construction, performance metrics, and design methodologies
- Proficiency in CAD/CAE (CATIA a plus) tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong time and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Initiative, self-discipline, and the ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness for working in global teams
- Demonstrated project management and analytical capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with tire market and testing requirements
- Familiarity with global product development processes and standards
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel domestically several times a year
- Ability to work in office, lab, and field testing environments
Work Environment:
- Office-based with routine
- Interaction with engineers, marketing teams, suppliers, and customers
