Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Product Development Engineer to support the development of a new electronic product. The selected engineer will help evaluate existing components, develop custom electronic hardware, build and test prototypes, and transition the final design toward manufacturing. This position requires a practical engineer who is comfortable working directly with hardware and taking responsibility for a product from early development through a production-ready design. Responsibilities Develop electrical architecture, schematics, and custom PCB designs Evaluate and integrate commercially available electronic components Design power-management and battery-operated electronic systems Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and improve functional prototypes Perform PCB bring-up and hardware debugging Select components based on performance, availability, cost, and manufacturability Develop bills of material, engineering drawings, and technical documentation Coordinate with suppliers, PCB manufacturers, and contract manufacturers Support design verification and product testing Improve designs for reliability, manufacturability, and production Maintain configuration control through product revisions Work closely with internal engineering, product-development, and manufacturing personnel Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field Five or more years of electronic product-development experience Experience designing schematics and custom printed circuit boards Experience with PCB assembly, bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting Experience developing battery-powered electronic products Knowledge of power regulation, charging, protection, and power-management circuits Ability to calculate system power requirements and battery operating duration Proficiency with standard electronic laboratory and diagnostic equipment Ability to personally assemble, solder, modify, and debug prototypes Experience selecting components and preparing designs for manufacturing Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills Ability to work on-site in Fredericksburg, Virginia Preferred Qualifications Experience developing compact electronic products Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontroller-based hardware Experience using Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, or similar software Experience with design for manufacturing and design for assembly Experience working with electronics suppliers and contract manufacturers Experience moving a product from prototype into low-rate or full production
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
