About the Role We are seeking an experienced Compressor Development Engineer to lead and support the design, development, testing, and qualification of centrifugal compressor systems . The ideal candidate will have strong experience in centrifugal compressor design, turbomachinery, rotor dynamics, mechanical component design, FEA, stress analysis, DFMEA, GD&T, prototype testing, and product development . This position is ideal for an engineer who has experience taking complex rotating equipment from customer requirements through design, prototype, testing, qualification, and product launch . Responsibilities Develop and execute compressor development plans, including design and engineering review milestones. Perform advanced centrifugal compressor design . Design and analyze mechanical components including rotors, shafts, impellers, bearings, gears, housings, and casings . Perform rotor dynamics/rotordynamics analysis for single-stage and multi-stage compressors. Evaluate mechanical designs against performance, reliability, safety, and life-cycle requirements. Perform stress, vibration, modal, fatigue, and finite element analysis (FEA) . Develop component-level requirements, specifications, engineering drawings, and tolerances. Apply GD&T and manufacturing/inspection principles to engineering designs. Work directly with suppliers and vendors to address manufacturability and inspection requirements. Review inspection results and ensure components meet engineering specifications and tolerances. Guide designers in developing accurate specifications and engineering drawings. Select appropriate materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes. Develop robust designs using
DFMEA/FMEA
. Establish engineering pass/fail criteria for analysis and test results. Use simulation tools to evaluate design performance, reliability, and robustness. Develop prototype test plans and apply Design of Experiments (DOE) when needed. Coordinate with laboratory technicians on test setup, test parameters, and data collection. Analyze test results and determine whether designs meet functional, performance, and safety requirements. Develop component qualification procedures and make pass/fail decisions. Support prototype manufacturing, product qualification, implementation, and product launch. Provide engineering analysis using mathematical calculations, FEA, and experimental data. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams. Prepare technical documentation throughout the product development lifecycle. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering field . Significant experience in centrifugal compressor design and development . Strong knowledge of turbomachinery and rotating equipment . Experience with rotor dynamics/rotordynamics . Experience with impeller, rotor, shaft, bearing, gear, and housing/casing design . Strong FEA and stress analysis experience. Experience with vibration, modal, and fatigue analysis. Strong understanding of GD&T and tight-tolerance mechanical design . Experience with
