Our client, a American Network Infrastructure Provider company, is looking for a Principal Electrical RF Engineer for their Claremont, CA/Catawba, NC location.
Responsibilities:
Client's Building & Campus business delivers end-to-end enterprise networking infrastructure—structured copper and fiber cabling (SYSTIMAX®,
NETCONNECT®, Uniprise®), powered fiber and automated infrastructure management (imVision®).
It focuses on high bandwidth, longer distances, smarter visibility/monitoring, faster deployment and large-venue coverage—enabling connected, secure environments across offices, campuses, universities, hospitals, airports and other venues.
Conceive and develop electrical PCB designs for copper Ethernet connectors and apparatus products with key emphasis in RF signal integrity parameters.
Define electrical architecture and design methodologies for next-generation copper Ethernet connectors and apparatus products.
Act as a key contributor and technical leader for electrical design within our business unit.
Set up simulation models and execute electrical simulations in
ANSYS HFSS
software.
Conduct data analysis, document technical findings, and maintain accurate records of design iterations and test results.
Collaborate with product line managers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing and quality teams to optimize connector designs.
Apply sound engineering principles, practices, and follow development execution procedures to take a design through the product development life cycle.
Drive design-for manufacturing strategy and partner with PCB vendors on material selection, tolerances, and advanced fabrication processes.
Mentor mid to senior level electrical engineers and establish internal standards for high-speed layout and Ethernet specific design practices.
Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions to mitigate risk and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering and 12-15 years of relevant experience or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with 8 years relevant experience.
Experience in signal transmission design from concept to production release a must.
Proficiency in using ANSYS HFSS and related analytical tools.
Proficiency in using DFMEA tools to mitigate design risks.
Proven experience with PCB design layouts for optimum Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI) and EMC/EMI shielding.
Expert-level experience with ECAD tools (e.g., PathWave ADS with Layout, Siemens PADS or Altium for PCB layout).
Deep understanding of PCB manufacturing processes.
Self-starter that requires only general supervision, having the ability to generate innovative designs, with engineering discipline and attention to detail, striving
for flawless execution.
Able to manage multiple projects and navigate through competing priorities.
Comfortable working in a global team environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues across different time zones, cultures, and functional areas to drive
project success and innovation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Expertise developing RJ45 connector electrical designs, understanding of industry standards as related to Telecommunications a plus. Examples include IEC
60603-7-51 (Cat 6A RJ45 Connectors), TIA 568.2-D (Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling), ISO/IEC 11801 (Structured Cabling Standards) and
IEC 60512-99-002
(PoE
reliability).
Understanding of Ethernet channel performance metrics (return loss, insertion loss, NEXT, FEXT, TCL, ELTCTL) and their impact on connector design.
Experience solving technical challenges involving alien crosstalk, return loss, insertion loss and EMI coupling requirements.
Background in networking, telecom, industrial, or data-center hardware.
Demonstrated innovation and creativity in product design and process improvement.
