job summary: A leading manufacturer of high-precision electronic test and measurement instruments is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to spearhead the hardware architecture and circuit design of next-generation signal acquisition systems and high-frequency probes. In this role, you will own the development lifecycle from initial requirement definition through schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, and full mass-production launch. This is a premier direct-hire, permanent placement position designed for a technical leader looking to work with state-of-the-art technology. Chestnut Ridge, New York job type: Permanent salary: $140,000 - 165,000 per year work hours: 9am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Lead the architectural design and engineering execution of complex RF, microwave, and high-speed mixed-signal assemblies, including precision analog circuits, high-speed ADCs, and DACs. Generate comprehensive technical documentation required for product planning, hardware architecture baselines, and risk mitigation. Develop complex schematic designs and oversee the critical PCB layout engineering of high-frequency multi-layer boards, organic packages, and advanced ceramic substrates. Engineer custom test fixtures and author automated test routines utilizing Python or similar scripting tools to validate early-stage hardware prototypes. Collaborate closely within a cross-disciplinary product team spanning Marketing, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineers to shepherd ideas into shippable instruments. Lead formal engineering design reviews, present complex system data to stakeholders, and mentor junior hardware engineers on the team. Manage the official release of engineering design packages into the production configuration management system, ensuring lifecycle supportability.
qualifications:
Must-Haves 5 to 10 years of progressive, hands-on electronic hardware design experience focusing on high-value, complex systems. Direct experience in RF and Microwave circuit design, possessing a deep understanding of frequency-domain and time-domain signal behaviors. Proficient utilizing industry-standard RF simulation and modeling tools (e.g., ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, CST, Sonnet, or Genesys). Strong knowledge of specialized PCB layout best practices for RF, microwave, and high-frequency signal integrity. Advanced RF/Analog/Digital laboratory skills with deep mastery of standard test equipment (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and High-Bandwidth Oscilloscopes). Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to lead technical design reviews and articulate complex systems data clearly. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE). Nice-to-Haves Broad general electronic design exposure, including low-noise power supply design, microcontrollers, and precision clocking architectures. Experience utilizing circuit simulation tools such as OrCAD, PSpice, MATLAB, or Ansys. Scripting capability in Python or Visual Basic specifically tailored for measurement automation and data analysis. Foundational knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) theory. Experience managing subsystem schedules, materials risk, and product cost parameters.
