The US Expansion Construction team leads the design and delivery of Micron's next generation semiconductor manufacturing facilities, including major projects in Boise, Idaho and Clay, New York. We partner with global engineering, construction, and operations teams to build highly reliable infrastructure that supports advanced technology manufacturing. As the NY Gas Systems Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, construction, commissioning, and long-term operation of bulk gas, specialty gas, and cryogenic gas systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing. This position offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, guide external design and construction partners, and help ensure critical utility systems are delivered safely, reliably, and ready for sustained operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the design, construction, commissioning, and startup of bulk gas, specialty gas, and ultra-low temperature gas systems for a high-volume manufacturing facility
  • Review engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, layouts, and 3D models to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
  • Support construction execution through RFI review, submittal evaluation, field inspections, coordination meetings, and issue resolution
  • Lead commissioning readiness, system testing, performance verification, and turnover activities while ensuring safe startup of gas systems
  • Collaborate with design firms, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable, compliant, and operationally ready systems
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Experience in gas systems engineering, including specialty gas, bulk gas, and/or cryogenic gas systems with design review and field execution support
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes, including SEMI, ASME, CGA, OSHA, and NFPA requirements
  • Experience reviewing engineering documentation such as P&IDs, specifications, and 3D models, with strong project coordination and communication skills
  • Experience driving safety, quality, and risk management within regulated or high-reliability industrial environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting gas system design and delivery for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, or other high-purity manufacturing facilities
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning, startup, equipment validation, and operational readiness activities for bulk, specialty, or cryogenic gas systems
  • Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, or other monitoring and control systems used in gas operations
  • Experience using BIM coordination tools such as Revit, Navisworks, or AutoCAD to support design integration and turnover documentation
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, gas systems-related certifications, or experience developing Agentic AI workflows to improve engineering and operational processes Job Profile(s): Semiconductor Facilities Engineer 3 - Semiconductor Facilities Engineer 4

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is: $89,000.00 - $182,000.00 a year Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
