$25-$40 per teaching hour About Tinker Club Tinker Club is a STEM education organization that helps students develop problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills through hands-on, project-based learning and engaging enrichment programs. To date, we have served more than 7,300 students , helping young learners interested in engineering and STEM become stronger students, confident problem solvers, and creative thinkers. Position Summary Tinker Club is seeking an enthusiastic Science & Robotics Instructor to teach hands-on STEM lessons to elementary and middle-school students. This position is an excellent opportunity for college students, recent graduates, and early-career STEM professionals or educators who enjoy working with children and have a passion for science, robotics, engineering, coding, or technology. Tinker Club provides the lesson plans, curriculum, and activities . Instructors bring these lessons to life by engaging students in conversation, asking thoughtful questions, providing hints and guidance, and helping students discover solutions independently. Key Responsibilities for STEM & Robotics Instruction Teach Tinker Club's prepared science, robotics, coding, and engineering lessons . Lead hands-on robotics challenges, science experiments, engineering projects, and coding activities. Introduce new concepts through conversation, demonstrations, questions, and hands-on exploration . Help students build, test, troubleshoot, and improve their projects. Guide students toward solutions rather than immediately giving them the answer. Use questions and hints to help students develop independent problem-solving skills. Student Engagement Create a positive, encouraging, and energetic classroom environment . Encourage curiosity, creativity, teamwork, communication, and problem solving Classroom & Program Responsibilities Arrive prepared and on time for each class. Set up and organize robotics kits, science materials, and classroom equipment. Communicate student observations and classroom needs with the Tinker Club team. Participate in instructor training and professional development as needed.
What we are looking for:
Majored in computer science, physics or a related field Individuals with a strong interest in teaching STEM (Robotics, Engineering, Coding). People who are patient, positive, and great at working with kids.
Bonus:
Experience with LEGO Education, Arduino, Python, or Scratch is a plus- this is not required. Minimum of 1 year teaching experience or tutoring A degree is not required. This position is particularly well suited for college students, recent graduates, and individuals beginning a career in education or STEM. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with any of the following is a strong plus : LEGO Education robotics kits Robotics, sensors, motors, and basic circuits Scratch, MakeCode, Python, or other programming languages Engineering and design projects Hands-on science experiments STEM education, tutoring, mentoring, or working with children Experience with robotics kits, microcontrollers, or programming is highly valued. Training can be provided for candidates who demonstrate strong STEM knowledge, enthusiasm, and the ability to work effectively with students. Teaching Demonstration Candidates who advance in the hiring process may be asked to complete a short 15-20 minute teaching demonstration . We are especially interested in how you: Introduce a STEM concept. Engage students through questions and discussion. Respond when a student is struggling. Encourage students to solve problems independently. Handle an unexpected student idea or approach.
Schedule Part-time:
Weekday afternoon/evening classes, generally 4:00-6:00 PM . Schedules may vary depending on program and school assignments. This position is a great fit for college students and recent graduates looking for flexible, meaningful part-time work .
