Weekdays between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. Full Job Description EYL 365 Project is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Beginner Robotics Instructor to facilitate an Robotics after-school programming for elementary and middle school students at a DCPS school beginning this fall (September). The instructor will introduce students to beginner robotics through engaging, hands-on, play-based, and project-based activities. Lessons should give students opportunities to build,experiment, solve problems, and work collaboratively. Candidates must have weekday availability between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. The specific programming day or days may vary based on the school's schedule and instructor availability. Responsibilities Plan and facilitate age-appropriate beginner robotics lessons. Introduce robotics, engineering, coding, circuits, motors, and simple machines. Create hands-on building activities, games, learning stations, and team challenges. Make technical concepts engaging and understandable for beginner learners. Provide clear demonstrations and step-by-step instructions. Encourage creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Modify activities for elementary and middle school students with different skill levels. Maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and positive learning environment. Manage student behavior using positive classroom-management strategies. Organize and care for robotics equipment and program materials. Track attendance and student participation. Submit lesson plans, material requests, and program recaps by established deadlines. Communicate professionally with EYL 365 Project staff and school partners. Arrive on time and fully prepared for every session. Qualifications At least three years of experience teaching robotics as a lead teacher or lead instructor. Previous experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students. Knowledge of beginner robotics, coding, engineering, circuits, or related STEM concepts. Experience developing hands-on, play-based, and project-based lessons. Strong classroom-management and student-engagement skills. Ability to explain technical concepts in a beginner-friendly manner. Dependable, organized, flexible, and responsive. Must be available between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. Must have availability Monday through Friday; selected program day(s) will vary. Must be able to complete all required DCPS background checks and clearance requirements. Must have reliable transportation to the assigned DCPS school. Preferred Qualifications Degree, certification, or training in education, robotics, engineering, computer science, technology, or a related field. Experience using LEGO Education, VEX, Ozobot, Sphero, Scratch, or similar beginner robotics and coding platforms. Experience working in after-school or out-of-school-time programming.Pay:
