Overview We are seeking a full-time Automation Engineering Intern - Operations at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust and scalable automated solutions to support manufacturing and distribution. Essential Functions Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards. Develop all aspects of engineering design: mechanical, electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/robotic programming Ensure all solutions comply with product design specifications Generate revision-controlled design and user documentation Participate in design reviews and present solutions to team and management Troubleshoot, support and continuously improve existing automated solutions Research and development of new, cutting-edge automation concepts Collaborate with project teams across Garmin (Olathe & Taiwan) Basic Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other related field Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Previous, hands-on automation experience involving robotics, electrical panel design, industrial controls and programming Experience using 2D and 3D CAD design software (Auto
CAD, SOLIDWORKS
) Excellent problem-solving ability Clear and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others Desired Qualifications Previous experience in engineering or IT Fluent in statistical analysis Speak, read, and/or write in Spanish, German or French Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
