Job Title:
Robotics Engineer II Job Description Our local custom machine build client is seeking an experienced Robotics Engineer to join their team full time. You will develop, program, and integrate robotic systems in automated manufacturing and testing environments. Will also be supporting new machine builds, system startups, commissioning, troubleshooting, while also contributing to PLC and HMI programming. Will work with industrial robots (Fanuc ), PLCs (AB and/or Siemens), vision systems, servo systems, VFDs, pneumatics, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP and Profinet).Hours :
Typical hours are 9:00a to 3:30p with flexibility to start earlier or stay later Typical work week is 40-45 hour During travel periods, hours may increase to approximately 45-50 per weekTravel :
approx. 25-30% Project trips typically last around one week All travel expenses, including lodging, flights, and gas reimbursement, are covered Responsibilities Program, configure, and integrate industrial robots Robotics programming Create robotic simulations and offline programming models to validate cell layouts, robot reach, and cycle times Integrate robotic systems with PLCs, machine vision systems, safety controls, and industrial networks Lead robotic system startups, machine commissioning, installation support, and troubleshooting efforts Train and support field service personnel and mentor junior engineers as needed. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clear communication and thorough documentation. Contribute to robotic cell design, simulation, and commissioning activities. Support integration of machine vision systems, including 2D and 3D applications, into robotic cells. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in robotics programming, automation, machine integration, or commissioning Strong experience programming industrial robots (preferably Fanuc) Experience with robotic cell design, simulation, and commissioning Familiarity with robotic simulation software such as ROBOGUIDE or similar tools Experience integrating robots with machine vision systems, including 2D and 3D vision applications Knowledge of PLCs and industrial automation systems; (Siemens or AB) Understanding of industrial networking (EtherNet/IP and Profinet) Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics "Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or automated equipment environments. Background in machine vision integration within robotic cells. Comfort working hands-on with complex automation equipment in both shop and customer site environments. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality and safety standards. Interest in mentoring junior engineers and supporting field service personnel. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
