Automation EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, commission, and maintain industrial automation systems. The role focuses on delivering reliable automation cells and robotics integrations, ensuring successful FAT and SAT activities, and diagnosing and repairing PLC, conveyor, and ancillary equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with FANUC robots, PLC troubleshooting, EOAT design, and can lead technical problem solving to achieve production and quality goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, commission and optimize automation cells and robotic work cells, including programming, testing, and integration.
Perform PLC troubleshooting, repair, and optimization to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
Program, configure and maintain FANUC robots; develop and validate robotic programs for production tasks.
Design, select and maintain End-Of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) and ensure EOAT is integrated correctly with robot cells.
Plan and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT); develop testing protocols, witness tests, and document results.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on conveyors, degators and associated material handling systems.
Lead root-cause analysis and continuous improvement activities to increase uptime and throughput.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (project management, controls, mechanical, QA, and vendors) to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Create and maintain technical documentation, wiring diagrams, PLC logic comments, test reports, and service records.
Provide on-site technical support and training for commissioning, handover, and client troubleshooting as required.
QualificationsAssociates Degree or higher3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation with direct experience on automation cells and robotics integrations.
Proven experience programming and servicing FANUC robots and developing EOAT solutions.
Strong PLC troubleshooting skills (programming, ladder logic, I/O fault finding); experience with common PLC platforms.
Demonstrated experience planning and executing FAT and SAT activities and preparing acceptance documentation.
Hands-on experience with conveyors, degators, and other material handling equipment including repairs and preventative maintenance.
Solid understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, sensors, HMIs and safety standards for automated machinery.
Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to interface with customers and cross-functional project teams.
Willingness to travel to customer sites for SAT and commissioning; valid drivers license and ability to work in industrial environments.
