Job Summary:
Job description HireArt is helping our client find a Robotics Lab Technician to build, maintain, and troubleshoot the hardware and equipment used in robotics data collection operations. In this role, you'll support robotics lab infrastructure ranging from robot arms and teleoperation devices to VR headsets, cameras, motion-capture sensors, compute systems, and custom-fabricated components. You'll keep data collection stations operational, diagnose hardware issues, perform preventive maintenance, and help configure new task environments in partnership with the research team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with experience in robotics, hardware prototyping, or a similar technical environment. You are a methodical troubleshooter who is comfortable working across mechanical systems, electronics, fabrication, and basic computer setup, and you take pride in maintaining an organized and safe lab. As a Robotics Lab Technician, you'll: Assemble, configure, and maintain data collection stations: robot arms/manipulators, teleop leader devices, cameras, mocap sensors, mounts, cabling, compute. Diagnose and fix hardware issues during operations — sensor dropouts, calibration drift, cable/connector failures, network hiccups on teleop links, mechanical wear — and get stations back up fast. Build, maintain, calibrate, and repair robot cells; triage hardware failures and coordinate vendor RMAs. Stand up and tear down data-collection stations; keep multiple contractor workstations supplied and functional. Perform preventive maintenance and on robotic setups on a schedule; keep a maintenance log. Manage inventory of parts, consumables, and spares; flag reorders and lead-time risks. Own the 3D printers and small fabrication tools: print, post-process, and fit custom parts, fixtures, and jigs; keep printers calibrated and stocked. Follow and help enforce lab and equipment safety practices.
Document everything:
SOPs, equipment logs, lab wiki, checklists About Anthropic N/A Role specifics and target candidate profile Ideal candidate profile Experience with robot arms/manipulators, teleoperation hardware, VR headsets, or motion-capture systems. Basic CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape) to modify or design simple parts and jigs. Basic scripting (Python or bash) for setup/diagnostic tasks; comfort in a Linux environment. Familiarity with cameras and sensor calibration. Experience standing up a new lab or line. Daily tasks Assemble, configure, and maintain data collection stations: robot arms/manipulators, teleop leader devices, VR headsets, cameras, mocap sensors, mounts, cabling, compute. Set up new task environments (props, fixtures, layouts) to spec from the research team; help pilot new tasks before rolling them out to operators. Write and maintain build docs, wiring diagrams, setup/teardown checklists, and troubleshooting guides. Follow and help enforce lab and equipment safety practices. Required skills 2+ years hands-on in a robotics, hardware prototyping, R&D lab, maker/fab shop, or similar technical environment.
